Mountaineers are drawn to their sport for an endless number of reasons. Beyond just accepting a physical and mental challenge, there's other things to be found on the mountains - camaraderie, freedom, an immersion in nature. My illustration shows the progression of a group of climbers to the summit not just as a static, singular moment, but plays with the narrative and movement. The ropes that tie the climbers together make it possible to follow and understand their route, serving both as image composition help and storytelling tool.
Is this climb a friendly competition to the top, or an exciting first ascent?
